Here's one of my favorite Art Deco Pieces...

My Art Deco Cocktail Bar Cabinet.

I've been searching for one of these for years and finally on Craigslist there she was. And priced reasonably too. I said I could pick it up in a few days and it turns out it was priced so reasonably, the guy increased his asking price because so many others after me had offered him hundreds more.

I paid the extra (although to me a deal is a deal) because I had to have this bar.

He bought it in the early 80's and had the finish restored. So it's not the original finish but he said he spent $300 on the refinishing in the 80's and it was a really good job.

The only thing missing is the original glass mirror. He said it was broken so I'd like to find another or at least another copy of mine so I can duplicate it to make my bar complete.

It's a light walnut or maple with lovely birds eye maple inside. Purely wonderful in person.

Original olive martini sticks (on top).

No maker found, but it could have been lost when the refinishing was done.

Anyone know who made this? I assume it's English and from the 30's prewar.

So finally, one of my Art Deco quests have been fulfilled.

Lot of pics on my blog of this bar and other vintage items I own at www.poohbang.com

Have similar bar for sale
by: Dan

I have a very similar bar. I'm positive it was made by the same company as yours. From England. Stonehill Furniture. Walnut outside, birdseye maple inside. Exact olive pick holder.
Mine is dated 1960, although, it really screams Art Deco, not mid century. Overall it's an 8.5 out of 10 in condition. It's never been refinished, has some scratches and imperfections, but the wood is overall nice. It's been rewired. The switch is on the rear near the top. When you turn it on, the lower glass area is lit. When you open the top, another light comes on in that area as the maple shelf automatically slides out towards the front. It's a terrific piece!

Have Identical Piece
by: Kathryn

I also have this exact cocktail bar. It shows slight wear and has what appears to be an ink stain on the front. It would be beautiful refinished. I would like to sell it but am wondering the value. I live in Charlottte NC, USA. I tried Craigslist at $375 with no response. Any advice?

Market Value of Art Deco Cocktail Bar
by: Anonymous

I'm not sure how much it's worth. I'd guess in the 500 range.

in pretty good shape
by: Anonymous

I was just wondering what is the market value would be. Got one from an usedstore about 5 years ago for 65.00 dollars. I really like the cabinet and plan on doing some restore work on it.
If you could me a thought on how much its worth, I'd be grateful.

Nice piece
Have just purchased a very similar one in UK. Makers label is Milwood on mine.
Condition not so great but after restoration would be as good.
