Hi Lesley,

Here's a link to the Hayden Orpheum Picture Place in Cremorne, Sydney:

www.orpheum.com.au

It's a beautiful old Art Deco theatre, built in the 1930s. Its so wonderful that it was restored and is still used as a cinema. So many of these old buildings are being lost these days. Apparently it used to have a shopping mall and a gym in it. What sacriledge. Anyway, now they have six cinemas and an incredible American wurtlitzer organ inside.

Best wishes,
Melinda

Wonderful Art Deco Theatre Still in Use
by: Lesley

Thanks Melinda for reminding me of this gem. I haven't actually been inside, but its on my list of things to do. I found the above picture, with kind permission to re-post by Deco Works Pty Ltd. There is a great blog with more pictures here at the Sydney Art Deco Heritage Site.
