My Art Deco Sphere lamp

by Dan

I bought this lamp at an estate auction when I was about 14 years old. I am sixty now. I cost me $3. When I bought it, I did not know it was a lamp! I just loved the look of it. An old woman who had lived in the home her entire life, showed me that it was a lamp, and when I turned it on, my eyes popped! I wanted to post pictures of it here to share, and as sort of an archive. I've never seen another like it. The two figures are made of pot metal, the base is forged bronze.

Places to sell Art Deco
by: Lesley

Hi Dan

As I'm in Australia, I'm not really up on the best sites to use in the USA. I use eBay a lot, and it does reach a large audience.

You could also try your local auction houses. They would give you an estimate of what it might be worth, and you could place a reserve.

Another option is to advertise it in one of your local newspapers or local Facebook groups. There are lots of Facebook groups for collectors in different areas.

Good luck.

Thank you for the site
by: Dan

Hi Lesley,
Thank you for the site. I was originally trying to look for a place to sell my really nice art deco bar cabinet, and found your site. Then I was given a chance to share my favorite deco piece, and that choice was very easy! I'm so glad the lamp survived my crazy youth! But you never know what will happen in the future, so I thought it a good idea to document the lamp on your site.

Can you recommend a site where I might list my Art Deco bar Cabinet for sale? I live in Northern California.
Kind regards,
Dan

Gorgeous Griest Lamp
by: Lesley from Decolish

Hi Dan

That is really beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing with us. I just looked up Griest and it seems they were based in Connecticut.

Does anyone else have anything by Griest? I'd love to see.

Lesley
