This building on the Intracoastal Waterway is across the street from a park and easy for an interested tourist to find.

At first I thought it was a movie theater. The name on the building suggests it was a Kress Department store.

I especially like the intricate designs at the top of the building's brick work.

Subtle Art Deco brick work
by: Lesley at Decolish

To me it is a bit too subtle to be an Art Deco cinema. They are usually a lot more bright and visually striking. Normally you'd get lots of strong lines and bold colours.

This one as you say, would make a very elegant department store. I love the soft shades of the two tone bricks, and the way they have been put together. Its a lovely old building whatever it's use.
